To ensure safety given the large crowds, vehicle traffic—including bicycles and personal mobility devices— will be prohibited within the Eixample district starting at 7:00 a.m. on April 22. This restriction will remain in effect until the evening of Sant Jordi.
Although the large Literary Superilla, the heart of the festival, will be pedestrian-only, several main thoroughfares will remain open to traffic to facilitate urban mobility:
- Calle de Aragó
- València Street
- Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes
These roads will remain open to traffic as long as pedestrian density allows for the safe passage of vehicles.
Impact on parking and Bicing
Preparations will begin on April 21 with the gradual restriction of parking along Passeig de Gràcia, Passeig de Rosselló, Passeig de Provença, Passeig de Mallorca, and Avinguda Diagonal.
The total parking ban in the affected area will take effect at 8:00 a.m. on April 22 and will end at 11:00 p.m. on April 23.
Likewise, Bicing stations located within the event area will be out of service. However, access to public and private parking lots in the area will be permitted.
Transportation Recommendations
Due to significant mobility restrictions, citizens are advised to walk or use the metro to access both the “Literary Superblock” and the other book and rose vendors scattered throughout the city. Using the underground public transit system is the most efficient option given the scheduled street closures.
