This August, town squares, churches, and gardens in some of Catalonia’s smallest villages will become stages for live music. The Itinera Festival unveils its August program with more than twenty concerts spread across municipalities with fewer than 1,000 residents throughout Catalonia.
The festival, winner of the Fundació Catalunya Cultura’s Impulsa Cultura Award in 2021, was launched that same year with the goal of bringing musical culture to micro-villages. Behind the project is the Associació de Micropobles de Catalunya, in collaboration with the Fundació Jazz Clàssic, musician Joan Chamorro, and artists associated with the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, the Societat de Blues de Barcelona, and the Harlem Jazz Club.
A diverse program in local venues
The August lineup brings together a wide variety of styles: blues, jazz, swing, roots music, folk, and singer-songwriter music. Confirmed artists include Johnny Bigstone & Sweet Marta, Ars Nova Ensemble, Roger Lozano, Athrodeel, Genni Knows, La Clau, and Cherry Sisters, among many others.
