Westfield La Maquinista has decided to recreate the festive atmosphere of the Central European markets. And for this, it has not skimped on ice. The main protagonist will be the largest natural ice rink in Barcelona, with more than 800 square meters of frozen surface.
This huge rink will be located in the outdoor parking area, as the centerpiece of a large Christmas market. In this space, which promises to be the epicenter of Christmas in the northern part of the city, we will also find a giant slide of 12 meters to launch at full speed, a Christmas train that will run through the outdoor area and the typical booths of an advent market. In addition, and as is tradition, Santa Claus and the Three Wise Men will have their own houses to receive the letters of the little ones.
The great novelty of La Maquinista is the arrival of an icon of children’s literature: the House of Geronimo Stilton. It is an immersive experience that combines exhibition scenarios with state-of-the-art visual technology. Children from 5 to 14 years old will be able to tour eight rooms that integrate interactive theater, sensory elements and a kind of escape room, living the adventures of the world’s most famous mouse up close.
In terms of solidarity, the center will launch the Solidarity Machine, inspired by the well-known international Giving Machines. By approaching and choosing a cause, the donation will go entirely to collaborating NGOs such as Ronald McDonald House or Red Cross, allowing visitors to make a visible and immediate contribution to those who need it most.An important note on schedules and plans
The mall offers a great advantage for latecomers or those who prefer to take it easy: its stores will remain open from Monday to Sunday throughout the month of December. They will only be closed on major holidays: December 25 and 26, and January 1 and 6. However, the restaurants and movie theaters will keep their doors open even during these holidays, offering an alternative gastronomic and cinematographic entertainment.
