The grill will be the center of attention at the Parc de la Granvia in L’Hospitalet next weekend in February. On February 21 and 22, the What the Foc! festival will celebrate its fifth edition with a program that combines live cooking with social activities for all audiences. The venue will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on a day that seeks to reclaim fire as a cultural link.
This edition will consolidate the event as one of the must-see events for lovers of outdoor gastronomy in the Barcelona metropolitan area. Through a display of tradition and creativity, the festival will offer a gastro line-up that will transform the public space into a large community dining room . Admission will be free, making it easy for families, groups of friends, and even pets, as it is a pet-friendly space, to enjoy the experience.
The ritual of the group calçotada
One of the big attractions this year will be the Calçotada Zone, a space managed by Garbanzo Negro that will allow visitors to experience this Catalan tradition without leaving the city. The organization will set up large tables designed to accommodate groups of 5 to 10 diners, promoting a relaxed and festive atmosphere where seasonal produce will take center stage under the February sky.
Attendees can make reservations for these popular meals at a price of €145 per table. The menu will include 60 calçots, unlimited romesco sauce for diners, as well as two porrones of wine and water. This proposal seeks to simplify the logistics of large family or friend gatherings, offering all the necessary elements to enjoy the calçot festival in a comfortable and professional setting.
International experts in fire management
The gastronomic selection will bring together specialists who will showcase their skills with a wide variety of techniques. Among the participants, BAKKIU will serve matured beef tenderloin and butifarra sausage with piquillo aioli. Warike Project will prepare its famous Chinese-style pork, a Peruvian recipe that requires four hours of slow cooking to achieve a crispy texture and tender meat.
The international variety will continue with Delicatessen Argentina, which will cook Black Angus skirt steak, and Porco Preto, which will present Iberian lagarto with artichoke. Lovers of fusion cuisine will find dishes such as Peking-style wings or chistorra with smoked kimchi at Casa Xica. The seafood offering will come from Asados Events with its chimichurri shrimp skewers.
Family entertainment and background music
Beyond the food, What the Foc! is a pet-friendly event that encourages the whole family to participate. The organizers will set up traditional game areas where attendees can play dominoes, petanque, or Finnish bowling. Various DJ sessions will liven up both days to create a constant festive atmosphere.
The event will be sponsored by Conserves Ferrer, a company specializing in traditional sauces, and supported by brands such as Damm, fritz-kola, and Ratafia Maus. To ensure the quality of the fire, Llenyes i Carbó Polinyà will supply the fuel needed for the six professional grills.
