Barcelona’s culinary scene is gearing up for the Mercè festivities and, as is now tradition, it’s doing so with one of the city’s most popular culinary festivals: Born Street Food. From this Friday, September 18, through Sunday, September 20, Pla de Palau Square will become the meeting place for foodies and lovers of good food.
In this edition—the nineteenth—the festival will feature 16 different restaurants, all members of the Born Gastronomic District, each with a unique culinary offering. This event, organized by the Barcelona Born Gourmet Association, aims to provide a space for leisure and fun for residents and visitors alike, while also reaffirming the Born as the city’s gastronomic epicenter.
This year, Born Street Food welcomes four new participating establishments: Espai Puntal, with its organic roast pork, pancetta, pickles, peanuts, and citrus mayonnaise on Vienna bread; Bar Super, with “La Superbuti”—featuring mollete bread, grilled escalivada sausage, ñora pepper mayonnaise, and mustard pickles; Arcano, with a sausage brioche topped with truffle cream and crispy mushrooms; and David Barroso (Santa Caterina Market), who will prepare his “Brutal Smash” burger.
1881 per Sagardi, Bodega Vidrios y Cristales, Cadaqués, Euskal Etxea, Sagardi, SAGÀS, Bronzo bar e cucina, Paninaro Pane, Salumi & Co, Oaxaca Cocina Mexicana, Ikoya, and Jon Cake round out the festival lineup, each with a unique dish.
One of the new features of this year’s festival will be “El Rebost, ” a space dedicated to local products and small-scale producers, where wine and cheese tastings, as well as culinary and mixology workshops, will be held. You can check out the full schedule of activities on their website.
