Rodalies de Catalunya reported today, Wednesday, October 7, that “due to circumstances beyond our control, we cannot guarantee service.” Although the rail company has not provided an official reason, all signs point to a work stoppage by the train drivers, who are demanding more safety guarantees and checks following the recent storm and the incident last night in which a tree fell onto a train between Vilanova i la Geltrú and Cunit.
This situation has left several rail lines without trains. In the last few hours, Renfe and Adif have presented reports to the train drivers’ union confirming the safety of the infrastructure, and service is being restored as quickly as possible.
Delays or cancellations may occur on all lines. Renfe recommends using alternative modes of transportation until service returns to normal. A certificate is available for those affected to present at work or to other government agencies that may require it.
