Shopping at the corner store will be cheaper this fall. The Barcelona City Council will launch the Bonus Consum 2026 campaign starting October 13, offering savings of up to 30 euros to anyone who shops at participating stores and markets.
This initiative aims to promote and support local commerce and small businesses in competition with large platforms and multinational corporations. Furthermore, this year’s campaign is bolstered by Barcelona’s status as the European Capital of Local Commerce 2026, although there will be a second edition in 2027.
How to get the vouchers if you’re a local resident
Starting October 13, you can register on the platform. Each voucher is worth 10 euros and applies to purchases of 30 euros or more. You can get them in three steps:
- First voucher: You’ll receive it upon registration, to be spent at any participating business.
- Second voucher: You unlock it by using the first one within 15 days.
- Third voucher: You’ll receive it if you make your first two purchases at stores in the neighborhood where you live, as specified when you registered.
To participate in the campaign, you must be of legal age and live in Barcelona. Your residence is declared upon registration and is considered verified—unless proven otherwise—if you are listed in the municipal resident registry. The voucher is personal and non-transferable, and you can save it in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
Each voucher expires 30 days after it is issued. And one important detail: downloading a voucher does not guarantee the discount amount, as its use depends on the campaign’s available budget.
How to participate if you own a store or have a market stall
If you own a local business or have a market stall in Barcelona, you can join the campaign. Before signing up, make sure your business meets the participation requirements. Businesses that have already joined can download the graphic kit to identify themselves to customers.
For businesses, the initiative offers a way to attract more customers from the neighborhood and gain visibility through a citywide campaign. Here’s how to process payments at the point of sale:
- Download the TPV app. Once the business is enrolled, you’ll be able to manage the vouchers from there.
- Scan the voucher’s QR code. You can do this using your phone or tablet.
- Confirm the transaction. The amounts are credited weekly to the bank account specified by the business.
The basic idea is simple: to keep spending local and ensure that neighborhood shops remain a part of daily life for Barcelona residents.
