Barcelona is hosting various events and demonstrations throughout Monday, October 12, Spain’s National Day. If you need to get around downtown Barcelona or want to take part in any of these events, it’s important to plan your route and keep in mind that traffic will be restricted on several streets and avenues.
Starting at 10:00 a.m., traffic will be restricted on Passeig de Gràcia, between Plaça del Cinc d’Oros and Plaça de Catalunya. Traffic disruptions will continue throughout the day, depending on the rallies and demonstrations taking place at any given time. Plaça de Catalunya will also be closed to traffic on the Llobregat, mountain, and Besòs sides, with detours in place around the square.
At 5:00 p.m., a demonstration will set out from Avenida del Paral·lel. The route will pass through Plaza de las Drassanes, Passeig de Josep Carner, Plaza del Portal de la Pau, and Passeig de Colom, ending at Plaza de Idrissa Diallo. While the march is passing through, traffic will be blocked on Plaça de les Drassanes until the demonstration joins Passeig de Josep Carner.
Other measures are planned, such as the closure of exits 21 (Besòs and Llobregat) on the Ronda del Litoral (B-10). There will also be detours on Passeig de Colom toward Llobregat, and traffic coming from Passeig de Josep Carner and the Barcelona waterfront area will be rerouted.
The Barcelona City Council reports that during the demonstrations, there may be occasional disruptions to bus service in the city center and around Passeig de Gràcia, Plaça de Catalunya, Paral·lel, Les Drassanes, and Passeig de Colom. Before leaving home, check the service status on TMB’s official channels.
