The Barcelona City Council has presented the project for the country’s first public ultra-fast charging station. The facility will be located at Exit 4 of the Ronda de Dalt, near Passeig de la Vall d’Hebron, and will occupy an area of 900 square meters.
The facility will have the capacity to serve 12 vehicles simultaneously. The city council expects the station to handle demand from up to 300 cars per day. The energy used to power the station will come entirely from renewable sources.
Construction and budget

Construction work will begin next summer. The municipal government has allocated 2 million euros for this project, which will be integrated into the Endolla Barcelona public network. According to the official schedule, the facility will become operational by the end of this year.
This new technology will drastically reduce wait times for users. In just 15 minutes, cars will gain a range of 400 kilometers. The facility’s design will include areas equipped for drivers to take a break while the charging process is complete.
Mayor Jaume Collboni emphasized that this initiative will strengthen the city’s position in the field of sustainable mobility. Currently, the Catalan capital manages 1,041 charging stations, a figure that ranks it as the leading city in Spain and the second in Europe in terms of the volume of such infrastructure.
The municipal network currently handles approximately 18,000 transactions per month. With the addition of the new Ronda de Dalt hub, the local government aims to increase vehicle turnover and improve the efficiency of the public electricity supply service.
