If the real estate abuse continues, so do the demonstrations. After the hot winter experienced in Barcelona with the great demonstration for affordable housing of 23N and the protests against the eviction of the Casa Orsola, now the main platforms for the right to housing have called a new demonstration that they expect massive to demand the regulation of rental prices.
The protest, promoted by the Sindicat de Llogateres, the Confederació Sindical d’Habitatge de Catalunya, the Plataforma d’Afectats per la Hipoteca and the Sindicat d’Habitatge Socialista, seeks to denounce the commodification of a fundamental right and to pressure the administrations to take effective measures.
When is the 5A demonstration
The mobilization will be held on April 5 and will start at 18h. in Plaça Espanya.

What is the route
The demonstration will not move from Plaça Espanya. When the different columns arrive to the square the headers will make a joint route along the Reina María Cristina avenue, to end with an act where the Vaguistes de La Caixa, the Barraquistes de Montcada i Reixac, the Bloc de la Sareb de Sant Celoni and the Bloc organitzat de Premià de Mar will intervene, as well as the spokeswomen of the main organizations.
What is the demonstration asking for?
“Nothing has changed”, as they explain from the Sindicat de Llogateres, so the protest maintains its demands from last time:
The conveners denounce speculation with housing and demand:

A 50% reduction in rents.

Indefinite rental contracts.

An effective control of the price of rents.

Prohibition of the purchase of housing for speculation: the purchased housing has to be to live in it.

Recovery of residential use for vacant housing or housing dedicated to tourist or seasonal use.
