The international campaign Act x Palestine will have its great Catalan closing on January 29th at the Palau Sant Jordi. The organization of this massive concert has already confirmed the presence of artists such as Bad Gyal, Morad, Oques Grasses, Amaia, Guillem Gisbert, Mushkaa, La Zowi, Yerai Cortés, Fermin Muguruza, Xavi Sarrià, Alguer and Lluís Llach.
The event, which seeks to replicate the cultural mobilizations of London, Paris or Los Angeles, will put its tickets on sale this Friday, December 19 at 10:00 am on its website, with a price range between 25 and 45 euros. The concert will be broadcast live on the Internet and through the 3Cat platform.
A line-up of international artists at Act X Palestine
The event is committed to a global and intergenerational approach. The local cast will be joined by international artists such as the Tuareg band Tinariwen, from Mali, and the French band Zaho de Sagazan. The Palestinian protagonism will fall on voices like Zeyne and Lina Makoul. The organizers warn that the line-up is not completely closed.
The show will also feature two large choral blocks. The Al-Balad Choir (‘Heart of the People’), a formation born as a result of the soccer match between the Catalan and Palestinian national teams, will perform.
The Ovidi Cor Gran will be presented , a special format led by the quartet Ovidi 4, who will perform accompanied by a large group of artists: Anna Mira, Feliu Ventura, Ginestà, La Maria, Pinan 450f, Sandra Monfort, Sergi Carbonell and Svetlana.
The soundtrack and effects of the event will be curated by electronic producer John Talabot, and will feature performances by Kayed Hammad, Cor Al-Balad, Guim Tió, Lydia Ourahmane and Mohamed Bitari.
Proceeds will be channeled through the Palestinian Performing Arts Network (PPAN) and various independent cultural centers. The initiative’s promoters – a coalition of human rights organizations, humanitarian aid and peace networks – argue that culture is essential in the face of the “erasure of memory and identity” suffered by the Palestinian people. To ensure transparency, the entire donation process will be subject to an external audit.
For those who cannot attend in person, a “Row Zero” has been set up to enable solidarity contributions to be made.
Act X Palestine is presented as the natural continuation of recent actions such as the departure from the port of Barcelona of the Global Sumud Flotilla.
