The InterContinental premieres Barcelona’s most original monologue: live comedy and a tasting of six wines

An Idiot’s Guide to Wine is coming to Barcelona with a fun wine tasting where you’ll learn about food and wine pairing from a comedian in a stand-up show with a tasting. Whether you’re a connoisseur or your expertise doesn’t go beyond swirling your glass, this experience blends “having a drink,” comedy, and learning—without pretentious commentary or unnecessary posturing.

What is An Idiot’s Guide to Wine?

The perfect combination of a comedy monologue and a guided tasting at the table, with no need to know beforehand whether it should smell “more fruity” or “more woody.” During the 70-minute experience, you’ll taste six different wines (included with admission) while the comedian guides you through fun facts about each one, interspersed with jokes and anecdotes.

For adults only, this fun tasting will take place at the InterContinental and features wines from different countries, which means one thing: the next time you go out for a glass of wine, whatever you choose, you’ll probably know a fun fact to share on the spot (and be the coolest person in the group).

Ideal for coming with friends, as a couple, or with that person we all know who says yes to anything different, the idea for An Idiot’s Guide to Wine was conceived by comedian and certified wine expert Merrick Watts. After finding success in Australia, he is now taking the show abroad with dates around the world. Alcohol consumption is optional, so if you’re really just there to enjoy the stand-up comedy and aren’t so interested in tasting the wines, non-alcoholic beverages are available for an additional fee.
