All languages have an alphabet, and the alphabet of jazz is the soul. Like listening to the first notes of Georgia On My Mind and feeling a connection with each word, even if the lyrics were written decades ago. A trip back in time to the Louisiana of 1920 that now has its own name and a new destination: The Jazz Room Barcelona. A live concert with which to experience the rhythm and emotion of some of the best songs of this genre, such as When The Saints Go Marching In by Louis Armstrong or Summertime by Billie Holiday, between dim lights and drinks in the emblematic Jamboree Jazz Club.
What is The Jazz Room?
Imagine the atmosphere of a 1920s speakeasy brought to the present: that’s The Jazz Room. A space with warm lights and an intimate stage where jazz, soul or blues sounds, depending on the night. Talented musicians, live instruments and those well-known classics and new improvisations that never go out of style.
The Jazz Room Barcelona: What concerts are there now?
A Journey to the Heart of New Orleans
Stepping into the era of hot jazz, the show brings together a carefully selected ensemble that celebrates the roots of the genre: freedom and improvisation. Traditional ragtime mixes with the blues in a one-hour concert featuring classics such as St. James Infirmary, When the Saints Go Marching In or On the Sunny Side of the Street.
Tribute to Soul
A journey through the history of soul with the energy that made it eternal. Rhythms born from gospel and reaching the general public through artists such as Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye or Al Green. This tribute by The Jazz Room shows how this genre turned emotion and hope into music, creating a unique connection with each song : Let’s get it on, Feeling Good and many more.
Tribute to Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong
This show brings together Sinatra’s unmistakable swing with Armstrong’s rich, melodic improvisation in a high-energy live performance. Their joint repertoire – featuring big hits from the Big Band era and unforgettable jazz standards – evokes those moments when jazz moved from the clubs to the mainstream.
