If the Catalan Cerdanya already gives us joy, crossing the border to reach its French neighbor is always a great idea, especially when the reward is to immerse yourself in thermal waters that are pure creme de la creme. We are talking about the Llo Baths (Bains de Llo), an essential destination for those seeking a complete wellness experience, with the seal of quality of the Pyrenean sulfurous waters.
Located in the charming village of Llo (in the Eastern Pyrenees), this spa is not only famous for the quality of its waters, but also for its postcard location: it sits on the impressive Segre gorges, which guarantees views that already relax you before you put your foot in the water.
A spa overlooking the mountains

The water of Llo springs naturally at a temperature flirting between 34 °C and 40 °C. Yes, you read that right: bordering on 40 degrees. This makes it the perfect refuge for the winter. You can comfortably soak in the outdoor pool while watching the steam rising and, if you’re lucky, contemplate the snowy landscape.
And it’s not just pools. Llo’s complex is much more complete, blending rustic mountain charm with all the modern comforts. It has anXXL outdoor pool equippedwith everything you need to relax: pressurized hydrojets, bubble benches and water cannons.
In addition, relaxing Jacuzzis, indoor pools and Wellness area with access to the hammam (steam bath) and sauna (only for over 12 years).
Remember that the sulfurous properties of the water not only heat, but are highly recommended for relieving muscular ailments, caring for the skin and, of course, disconnecting the mind.
Prices and how to get there from Barcelona

Although it is a larger spa with more services than other municipal options in the area, the prices remain quite reasonable for the quality of the experience. Tickets cost 17€ for adults and 9.5€ for children.
Llo is just over two and a half hours by car from Barcelona. The quickest way is to take the road that leads to the Cadi Tunnel and, once in Cerdanya, continue through Puigcerdà (Llo is about 25 minutes away). The trip, crossing the high mountain landscapes, is the perfect prologue to the thermal bath.
That said, now that the baths of Llívia are temporarily closed, this option, continuing just a little further along the road, is an ideal option to enjoy a mountain getaway and hot springs.
