The Generalitat de Catalunya has already launched the new call for applications for the Bo Lloguer Jove (Bono Alquiler Jove), financed with state funds. Applications, which will be managed by the Housing Agency of Catalonia, can be submitted between May 19 and 23, 2025.
The Bono Alquiler Joven has a monthly amount of 250 euros and is granted for a period of two years, until December 31, 2026. Applications will be resolved in order of entry into the registry until the initial budget allocation, which amounts to 37,783,500 euros in 2025, is exhausted.
Requirements to apply for the Bono Alquiler Joven in Catalonia.

To qualify for this aid, it is necessary to meet a series of economic, personal and housing-related requirements:
- Age: Be up to 35 years old (inclusive) at the time of submitting the application.
- Residence: To have legal residence in Catalonia and that the rented or transferred property is the habitual and permanent residence during the whole period in which the aid is received.
- Income: The income of the cohabitation unit must be equal to or less than 25,200 euros per year, corresponding to the fiscal years 2023, 2024 or 2025.
- Rental contract: Be the holder of the lease contract or be able to sign it within a maximum period of two months from the notification of the granting resolution. In case of room rental, it is not mandatory to conform to the Urban Lease Law, but it is mandatory to sign a written contract.
- Rent limit: Not to pay a monthly rent or assignment higher than the limits established in the call for applications.
- Family compatibility: No member of the cohabitation unit may be the owner or usufructuary of another dwelling, nor have a marriage, analogous partner or kinship relationship up to the second degree with the lessors or assignors of the property.
- To be up to date with the payment of the rent and to pay it by verifiable means (transfer, bizum, receipt…).
- Not to have debts with the AEAT, the Social Security or the Tax Agency of Catalonia.
The applications can be presented telematically through the portal of Procedures of the Generalitat. The regulatory bases of the call for applications can be consulted here.
They can also be submitted at the Xarxa de Mediació per al Lloguer Social (Social Housing Mediation Network), at the local housing offices that collaborate through an agreement with the Housing Agency of Catalonia, at the Agency itself and at its territorial offices.
What is the maximum rent that you must pay for these grants?
The rental price cannot exceed the following monthly amounts, depending on the area:
Zone | Housing | Room |
---|---|---|
Metropolitan area of Barcelona | 900 € | 450 € |
Rest of Barcelona province | 650 € | 350 € |
Province of Girona | 750 € | 400 € |
Province of Tarragona | 700 € | 350 € |
Province of Lleida | 600 € | 300 € |
Terres del Ebre | 600 € | 300 € |
These data clash with a harsh reality, at least in Barcelona: while the maximum price to qualify for a rental subsidy is 900 €, the average rental price in Barcelona is 1200 €.
There will be more rental subsidies this 2025 in Catalonia.

In addition to this state call, the Generalitat plans to open soon a new line of rental aid financed with regional funds, which will complement the Bo Lloguer Jove, as confirmed in a press release.
All young people who have not applied for or have been denied the state bonus will be able to access this future call. These aids will be granted by competitive concurrence, allowing to prioritize the applications according to weighting criteria such as income and the economic effort destined to the payment of the rent.
Unlike the state bonus, the amount of this regional aid will not be fixed: it will range between 20 and 250 euros per month, depending on the economic situation of the cohabitation unit.
