One of the most fun and unique things to do this summer is free and just over an hour from Barcelona. In the small town of Pavia (Lleida) lies the largest maze in Catalonia, made up of more than 1,000 bales of straw, dozens of paths, and a single exit to test visitors’ wits.
The activity will be available every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from July 10 through August 30. Opening hours are from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and the activity is completely free, although you can also enjoy a nighttime escape room (from 9:00 p.m. to midnight) two Fridays a month for 10 euros per person.
Plus, if you make it through the maze, you can spin the prize wheel to take home a souvenir—totally free.
The organizers: a family of beekeepers
The activity is organized by La Nostra Mel, a family of beekeepers and farmers who produce their own artisanal honey and other products such as beer, candles, and spices, which you can purchase at the maze or on their website.
They also organize other activities, such as a guided tour of their apiary, where you’ll learn about beekeeping, become beekeepers for a day, and enjoy a tasting of honey and mead (by reservation only).
