The summer in Barcelona is synonymous with outdoor cinema and moonlight concerts while the summer breeze caresses our faces. There are them all over the city, and for some years now the Liceu, Barcelona’s most traditional music institution, has been jumping on the open-air summer bandwagon to offer a classical music cycle performed on the beach sand.
Thus, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Auditori, under the umbrella of Barcelona Obertura and in collaboration with the Barcelona City Council, will once again hold the free concerts of ‘Clàssica a la playa’ on July 11 and 12 on the beach of San Sebastian, expanding its format and with names of international reference and impact.
The initiative aims to continue bringing symphonic music to a diverse and wide audience and to explain to the world that Barcelona promotes, leads and explains through classical music. In addition, with the aim of bringing music to vulnerable groups who cannot go to the beach, the children’s Orchestra of the Orfeó Català will perform in homes for the elderly in Barceloneta, and the Orchestra of the Palace Chamber at the Hospital del Mar.
The concerts are free and will be the highlight of the Regata Cultural, the Program of cultural activities that accompanies the America’s Cup. You can consult thecomplete Program at the event website.
