If you’re looking for a unique way to make the most of your Sunday, Pineda Beach in Castelldefels will become the setting for a historic event on May 31. For the first time, the CRAM Foundation’s well-known “Torna a Casa” event is leaving its usual venue to host a huge, completely free beach party, which will culminate in the release of five rehabilitated sea turtles finally returning to the Mediterranean.
The event will kick off at 10:00 a.m. between walkways 27 and 28 on the beach. Throughout the morning, the sand will be filled with informational tents, charity stalls, and educational workshops for children. Additionally, at 11:30 a.m., a live simulation will be held to demonstrate how the rescue team responds when it locates an injured animal on the coast.
Five survivors given a second chance
The most anticipated moment will arrive at 12:30 p.m., when the five stars of the day come ashore. They are Manolo, who survived a gas embolism in the ICU; Jenny, recognizable by a unique mark on her head; Emma, who required weeks of assisted breathing; and Ona and Ana, two young turtles who arrived at the center after ingesting floating plastic and suffering severe cuts in their mouths.
To ensure that children aged 6 to 12 can watch the release from the front row, the organization will distribute 350 free priority access wristbands at the information tents starting at 10:00 a.m. In any case, the area will be open to the general public within the safety perimeter so that everyone can bid farewell to the turtles as they return home. No prior registration is required—just bring sunscreen and a desire to experience a different kind of Sunday.
