It is the temple of Neapolitan pizza, but you don’t have to travel all the way to southern Italy to taste what they say is the pizzeria most historic on the planet. Da Michele, originally from Naples, already has 2 locations in Barcelona, one in the city and another in Badalona where they serve this pizza that attracts followers from all over the world.
Its original name is L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele. Founded in 1870 by the Condurro family in Naples, its first location in the southern city, still open to the public, is considered one of the pizza meccas. His film cameos and social media have continued to fuel the myth.
The house of Margherita and Marinara undertook a few years ago an expansion of new franchises in Europe, which has led them in the last 5 years to open two stores in Barcelona, and with the project underway of to settle in the capital, Madrid.
With thin dough in the center and thick edges, fermented for more than 24 hours and accompanied by San Marzano tomatoes and mozzarella di bufala, Da Michele represents the essence of the canonical Neapolitan pizza.
It is cooked in just 90 seconds, in ovens that exceed 400 ºC, a technique that has not changed in more than 150 years of history.
Prices for their pizzas in Barcelona start at 10 euros, with most classic options in this range, up to a more gourmet bracket around 13-14 euros. The experience can be accompanied by desserts such as tiramisu or Sicilian cannolo for 6 euros.
