His name is Diego Mejía, but everyone in Barcelona already knows him as “the celebrity pastry chef”. This Colombian master pastry chef based in Barcelona is a regular at private parties and Catalan nightlife.
His famous cakes have presided over the backstage of concerts of artists like Travis Scott or Karol G, birthdays like Neymar Jr. or Ronald Araújo‘s, or private parties like those organized by Alexia Putellas, Ronaldinho or James Rodríguez.
From his store at Travessera de Gràcia 88 he makes dozens of personalized cakes weekly for both individuals and celebrities of the city.
His Instagram is witness to all this work, which more than a social profile has become a diary of the entire journey that the pastry chef has traveled since he arrived in Barcelona through familiar faces.
Mejía trained at the Hofmann pastry school in Barcelona. His style mixes, on many occasions, North American sweet with nods to Colombia, ranging from the use of merengue to coffee.
Although his social profiles abound with the colorful and flashy cakes that Mejía usually serves on these select holidays, in his place you can find French pastries and typical sweets of the country, such as Roscón de Reyes or Easter cakes. He is part of a family of pastry chefs.
