Eat, literally, the dragon egg from Game of Thrones and thus get, who knows, Daenerys’ dragon-taming strength. This is what one can now fantasize about in Barcelona thanks to the desserts served, of course, in the restaurant that most resembles a castle in the city,
It is Wild Food Barcelona, the vegan and gluten-free restaurant that Rocío Maldonado has opened on the first floor of the Casa de les Punxes at Avinguda Diagonal, 420. There the chef serves “Drakarys Eggs”, the dessert that pays homage to George R. R. Martin’s fantasy saga and the fearsome Targaryen dragons.
The dessert is a hard boiled egg on the outside that hides a surprise inside, which is revealed by pouring hot toffee sauce over them, revealing a core of hazelnut sponge cake, crunchy pailleté andcreamy chocolate kinder.
Apart from this dessert, Wild Food offers a vegan and celiac-friendly menu that, although not yet complete, has dishes such as truffled edamame, seasonal croquettes, jackfruittacos, curries, jungle pad thai, honeyed rice dishes and vegan burgers.
The restaurant is open from Monday to Sunday from 9 am to 11.30 pm, with uninterrupted cooking from 12 pm to 10.30 pm. It offers breakfasts, brunches, lunches and dinners, all suitable for celiacs and free of animal cruelty. By the way, also has a lunch menu from Monday to Friday for 14.90 euros, which includes a starter, main course, dessert and lemonade or water, so we can think of few better occasions to eat in a palace like the Casa de les Punxes and feel, for a moment, that the strength of the Targaryen inflates our chest (or, at least, fills our stomach).
