We already knew that the Barça coach would not go to eat at La Rambla and that he would go more to the upper area, but what is curious is that his favorite restaurant is right in front of Nu, the disco restaurant where it is easy to see Barça players partying. We are talking about Fleming Ultramarinos, a tapas house in the upper area where you can eat like the culés stars eat, and for no more than 30€.
Fleming Ultramarinos, restaurant and delicatessen
Fleming Ultramarinos is just that, a mix between a classic restaurant and the grocery store of its name. That’s why the center is a giant bar where cheeses, preserves and deli meats are displayed and then arrive at the table. That is why the meal begins with a truffled mortadella or a wagyu jerky with Tete de Moine flowers.
The menu is extensive, a summary of Spanish cuisine, in a broad sense, with Catalan stews but also grilled fish and meat, rice or tapas. For that reason, its star dishes are the glass prawns with fried egg, an Andalusian gochada, a grilled Iberian feather where it is necessary to control the cooking points or an artichoke and prawn rice. Among the public, although we did not try it, the different grilled fish of the day seemed to be a success.
There are also off-menu dishes, such as various types of croquettes, and, at the end, more classic desserts such as white chocolate coulant with pistachios or a traditional flan.
All in all, an accessible, cozy and relaxed place, in a nice and bright room where the coach can eat looking at the sidewalk in front of him, to see if his players are out partying, while reviewing a menu that allows him to get to know several samples of classic Spanish cuisine.
