The Barcelona Forum will finally unify the entire maritime side of the city. On Monday, Barcelona City Council presented the new maritime platform that will connect this space with Port Vell along a 7-kilometer stretch.
Jaume Collboni’s government has unveiled the details of this renovation, which will cover 12.7 hectares and feature green areas and spaces for sports.
Named “Delta Prim,“ the winning design (by Esteyco and Estudi Martí Franch) will fulfill a long-standing demand from local residents: the extension of Rambla de Prim to the waterfront.
What the new Barcelona Forum platform will look like

It is estimated that work could begin in mid-2027. The total investment will be €52 million, and if the deadlines are met, this renovation is expected to be ready for use in 2030 or 2031.
This project will be a continuation of the work that has already begun on the Mar Bella promenade and will divide the Forum into two main areas to prevent the space from being underused during the year.

One area will be maintained for large events, such as Primavera Sound and Cruïlla, while another space will be developed for the public, with a new soccer field, a control center for beach management, and a marine center for water sports.
In addition, the project plans to install shade-providing vegetation along a continuous 7-kilometer promenade. This will connect Port Vell with the Forum.
In addition to street furniture, there will be a specific area for outdoor sports, possibly dedicated to team sports and calisthenics.
The project will also focus on energy self-sufficiency with 1,200 m² of photovoltaic panels on the roofs of the new buildings and an innovative system of removable sails and poles, which will provide shade for walkers but can be easily removed when festivals come around.
