There’s no need to consult mythological guides or fantasy books—that place exists. And there isn’t just one, but several bars in Barcelona that, even in the year 2026 and during the Gràcia Festival, offer free tapas with your drink. It’s a custom that has been lost in big cities, but some restaurants still preserve it as a selling point and a sign of authenticity.
Cassette Bar
This little tapas bar has a curious knack for making you feel right at home. Indie music, friendly service, well-poured beers, and a free tapa that varies depending on the day, the season, or whatever they feel like making.
Gildas, tortilla skewers, croquettes, cecina, cheese… an endless variety of options that pair perfectly with their original sandwiches. They’re closed on Sundays and Mondays, but you can visit them at Calle del Est, 11, from Tuesday through Thursday from 7:30 p.m. to midnight, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 7:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
Raspall
Probably the least “secret” spot on this list. Right in the heart of the Gràcia neighborhood, this bar is one of the most popular spots in the area, drawing crowds every day.
Starting at €2.80, you can enjoy a beer and a tapa of your choice from the selection, which changes daily. Spanish omelet, croquettes, steamed mussels, tuna tataki, Russian salad, grilled razor clams, mini-burgers with sides, meatballs with rice, tripe with chickpeas… the list of available tapas is so long that your best bet is to check it directly on their chalkboard. And if you want to try several, they have a special offer that includes a bottle of wine and 5 tapas for 19 euros.
To experience their cuisine, all you have to do is head to 8 Carrer de Samsó any weekday from 5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. On weekends, they extend their hours and open starting at 12:30 p.m.
Casa Pagès
In the heart of Gràcia, at 19 Llibertat Street , we find Bar Casa Pagès, one of those classic neighborhood bars that has stood the test of time thanks to its atmosphere, its character, and its top-notch cuisine.
For 2 euros, you can order any of the fifteen tapas available, but the deal that draws crowds every evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. is the combo of a caña and a tapa of your choice for just 2.50 €.
All the way to the streets
A little further from the Gràcia neighborhood, at 471 Provença Street or 9 Ferran Reyes Square, you’ll find a traditional bar with a lot of character.
A tavern that, even though it’s right in the heart of Barcelona, retains the same essence as if it were in a small town in Cuenca or Segovia. With every drink , they treat you to a tapa of freshly sliced Iberian ham, Manchego cheese, pork loin, or high-quality cecina . Authentic cuisine featuring ingredients from La Mancha, complemented by the decor and atmosphere of the place.

Just a short walk from Passeig de Gràcia, at 306 Carrer del Conde Borrell, we find the last entry on this list of tapas and beer bars in Barcelona.
