A city’s major events are best enjoyed when its squares are transformed into shared open-air venues. With the aim of bringing the celebrations closer to residents and offering new perspectives on current events, two giant screens will be set up in the city’s streets so the public can closely follow the proceedings of the upcoming official events.
The measure aims to offer a comfortable and uncrowded alternative for all those citizens who want to be part of the festive and institutional atmosphere but prefer to avoid traveling to downtown areas that will experience greater pedestrian congestion during the event.
Two spacious and accessible gathering points
The screens will be located in two strategic locations: Plaça de les Glòries and Passeig de l’Arco de Triunfo. Both spaces have been selected for their large capacity and excellent accessibility, which will allow attendees to gather smoothly and safely, without the overwhelming crowds found in the main city centers.
To ensure the experience is identical to being in the front row, the live television feed for the screens will be provided entirely by betevé. The local media outlet will handle the technical coverage of the event, ensuring that citizens who choose these viewing areas do not miss a single detail of the official ceremonies.
What will be shown on the giant screens
Here is what will be broadcast on local television and can be viewed from Glòries Square and the Arc de Triomf:
- Tuesday, June 9: The live broadcast will connect with the Midday Prayer at Barcelona Cathedral and, in the afternoon, with the mass prayer vigil at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc.
- Wednesday, June 10 (The Key Day): The screens will provide full coverage of the afternoon. This includes the pontiff’s visit to the Church of Sant Agustí, the highly anticipated papamobile tour through the streets of the Eixample, and, as the grand finale, the solemn Mass at the Sagrada Família, where the Tower of Jesus Christ will be blessed to coincide with the centennial of Antoni Gaudí’s death.
