Barcelona’s Grec will celebrate its 2025 edition from June 26 to August 4 with dozens of activities over more than 30 days focused on the performing arts. This year’s will be the first festival in the new phase led by artistic director Leticia Martín Ruiz.
This year’s inaugural event will be Le Petit Cirque, a show that will fuse music, dance and circus in a sensory experience for all audiences, with a strong message of celebrating nature.
This year, the Grec will have a more inclusive and urban approach. The Arc de Triomf will be transformed into a stage for a free show open to the public. In addition, two new stages have been added: the Santuario de la Mare de Déu del Carme, where the vocal work The Veil of the Temple by John Tavener will be performed on July 12, and the Casa Studio de Leopoldo Pomés, which will host a concert by the Breaking Bach ensemble on July 24.
The Teatre Grec remains the heart of the festival, with a program that will include singer Rozalén (July 7), composer Max Richter (July 15) and the show Pau Riba: Dioptria 55, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of his album (July 22). In addition, this year’s festival will feature big names in dance, such as Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (July 11 and 12), and theater by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod, with their adaptation of The Two Noblemen of Verona (July 18 and 19).
The Grec Festival will also have a program aimed at all audiences. At the Sant Andreu Teatre – saT!, there will be plays for children, such as Marceline (July 18), about a forgotten clown, and the puppet show Fénix. The Firebird (July 10 and 11).
