Get ready to immerse yourself, literally, in a universe of giant candies, ball pools, impossible slides and decorations taken from a cross between Willy Wonka and Grease. It’s called House of Candy, has just opened its doors at number 620 Gran Via, right on the corner with Rambla Catalunya, and promises to become the new sensation of leisure and candy in Barcelona.
With more than 2,000 square meters divided into 10 themed rooms, this amusement park for the senses is not only a tribute to sweets: it is an ode to play, imagination and the pleasure of disconnecting from everything (screens included). Yes, there is no virtual reality or mobiles here: just colors, textures and laughter.
An old parking lot turned into an amusement park for knick-knacks.
The chosen location could not be more symbolic. Where the parking lot of the Teatre Coliseum used to be – and for years it remained closed – we now find a completely transformed space. Ten months of work have been enough to convert an old parking lot into a sensory journey designed to play, explore and let yourself go.
Behind the project is the family responsible for Bulevard Rosa, and at the forefront of the idea is Enrique Vives, co-founder of the space. “My greatest satisfaction is when adults tell me that they haven’t had so much fun in years,” he confesses.
The House of Candy tour is a multisensory experience that includes everything from a fair to throw balls to a room to guess flavors by smell. There is also an area to listen to the sound of candies falling or unwrapping them, a relaxation room under a hot air balloon, and decorations featuring giant ice creams, macarons and neon lights that announce the unexpected.
The stars of the place are two: a giant ball pool (strong enough to jump into without fear, even if you are no longer 8 years old) and a two-story vertical slide that connects different areas of the place.
The proposal has been designed as a space for all ages: families, couples, groups of friends or even solo visitors wanting to play like when they were kids.
Opening hours, prices and coffee (and Delacrem ice cream) for less than 15€.
House of Candy is open daily from 11:00 to 21:00. Admission costs between 15 and 17 € for adults, and from 10 to 12 € for children under 12, depending on the day. Children under 2 years old are free.
For those who just want to browse, you can also enter only the cafeteria, where they serve coffee or artisan ice cream from DeLaCrem, without having to go through the rooms.
