Accustomed to seeing chain stores and big-box retailers replace iconic buildings and businesses, it’s always heartening to see one of those places that has been part of our past reborn to offer new experiences.
Those who enjoyed the IMAX Port Vell as a movie theater will be pleased to know that, starting next Monday, September 28, 2026, the iconic venue will reopen as an immersive exhibition center.
A venue that hosted film screenings from 1995 to 2014 and, after being closed for nine years, reopened as the official venue for the America’s Cup Experience through May 2025. Now, with renovation work nearly complete, it is being reinvented as a multipurpose space for leisure and culture.
The grand opening of the renovated cinema will feature Andrés Iniesta, with an exhibition tracing his entire life, from his childhood in Fuentealbilla (Albacete) to his latest project, the Iniesta Academy, which focuses on improving young players’ soccer skills through the player’s soccer and personal values.
During the experience, titled “Iniesta: The Inner Game,” we’ll be able to relive iconic moments for Barça fans—such as the “Iniestazo” at Stamford Bridge—and for fans of the Spanish national team, such as the legendary goal in the 2010 World Cup final.
Tickets for the opening of the exhibition and the reopening of the Port Vell IMAX go on sale today, August 24, on the exhibition’s website, where you can still enter a special raffle for a chance to meet Andrés Iniesta at an exclusive Meet & Greet.
