Solidarity initiatives with those affected by the DANA in Valencia are multiplying and in Barcelona the City Council, in collaboration with the Banc dels Aliments, has turned the public libraries of Barcelona into solidarity collection points.
From Monday 4 November until Friday 8 November , 14 public libraries in the city will be collection points for food and basic necessities.
Shipments and distribution will be coordinated by the Banc dels Aliments de Barcelona in collaboration with its counterpart in Valencia.
Participating libraries
The libraries set up as collection centers are distributed throughout the 10 districts of Barcelona, thus ensuring coverage throughout the city. Some of the participating libraries are:
- Barceloneta Library – La Fraternitat ( Ciutat Vella).
- Fort Pienc Library – Ana María Moix (L’Eixample).
- Vapor Vell Library (Sants – Montjuïc).
- Sant Gervasi Library – Joan Maragall (Sarrià – Sant Gervasi).
- Nou Barris Library – Aurora Díaz Plaja (Nou barris).
- Camp de l’Arpa Library – Caterina Albert (Sant Martí).

- Les Corts Library – Miquel Llongueras.
In the district of Gràcia:
- Jaume Fuster Library.
- Vallcarca i els Penitents Library – M. Antonieta Cot.
In the district of Horta – Guinardó:

What products are requested?
Citizens can donate the following products, which must be properly packaged:
- Milk
- Canned and precooked food
- Baby food (baby food, powdered milk, purees)
- Baby diapers
- Feminine hygiene products
