Catalonia Day is a day of celebration. People take to the streets, stroll through the city, or visit iconic sites they don’t usually go to on other days. This year, just like every year, during Catalonia Day 2026, several museums and iconic sites in Barcelona and other parts of Catalonia will hold open house events. It’s the perfect opportunity to visit them, since some of them only open their doors to the public on rare occasions.
That’s why—and so you can enjoy Catalonia Day 2026 to the fullest—we’ve listed all the cultural and institutional venues you can visit for free on September 11.
- Museum of Archaeology of Catalonia (Passeig de Santa Madrona 39–41), Friday, September 11
- Centre Excursionista de Catalunya – Club Alpí Català (Carrer del Paradís 10), Friday, September 11.
- Catalan Parliament (Pg. Picasso 19), Friday, September 11. Palau Robert (Passeig de Gràcia 107), Friday, September 11

In addition to these buildings, you can continue exploring the history of the Diada outdoors, at one of the city’s other monuments significant to Catalonia, or by delving into the country’s history.
At the same time, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) will increase train frequency on all metro lines and deploy additional staff to ensure mobility and safety during this Friday’s celebrations.
