Did you know that if you live in Barcelona you can park your car for only 20 cents a day? The ubiquitous green spaces, which are distributed throughout 30 parking zones in the city, allow city residents who are registered with the Barcelona City Council to park any car for just 1 euro per week.
On the AREA website map, you can check if your address is located within one of the resident zones. Registering your vehicle at the city hall is free of charge and is valid for any type of environmental sticker authorized to circulate in Barcelona.
Cars under renting, leasing or renting for more than three months are also accepted, as well as company vehicles.
In exchange you will be able to park within the resident area in which you register for 20 cents per day or 1 euro maximum per week.
In addition, as the AREA website makes clear, a person with resident parking rights “will be able to park in other AREA Verde and AREA Azul parking spaces in the city, after obtaining the corresponding parking voucher, but the resident parking right will not apply”.
How to apply for resident parking in Barcelona

Among the technical requirements for the vehicle, it cannot exceed nine seats, must have more than 2 wheels, and less than six meters in length, nor 3,500 kilos of maximum authorized weight.
The application can be made online, by telephone (010) or in person at the Citizen Service Point of B:SM (Calle Calàbria, 66), always by appointment. It is compulsory to present ID card or NIE, driving license, technical data and valid insurance.
In the case of rental vehicles, a notarized contract and additional documentation is required, which can be consulted on the AREA website.
The AREA system is managed by Barcelona de Servicios Municipales (B:SM), an entity dependent on the City Council. Citizens can consult the map of zones, resolve doubts and carry out formalities on the official website or by calling 938 875 034.
