Barcelona is preparing to celebrate Ramadan with a program of community iftars that will bring the breaking of the fast to squares and cultural centers throughout the city. These events will allow residents to share a meal and learn about Muslim culture in a festive and participatory atmosphere.
The schedule of activities will begin this month and continue until mid-March. Below is the complete calendar of events planned in the Catalan capital:
Calendar of community dinners in February
- February 20: The program will start at 6:00 p.m. at the LGTBI Center in Barcelona.
- February 21: The Besòs Cultural Center will host a youth gathering at 6:30 p.m. Simultaneously, in the Sants neighborhood (Calle Cistell, 22), another dinner will be held at 4:30 p.m. at a cost of €15 per attendee.
- February 22: The Abu Bakr Mosque will organize a banquet at the Escola Cristòbal de Moura, in Besòs, starting at 6:30 p.m.
- February 27: The Carmel neighborhood will join in the celebrations with a community dinner at 6:30 p.m. coordinated by local intercultural organizations.
Meetings scheduled for March
- March 1: Parc del Clot will be the venue for the event organized by the Islamic Cultural Center at 6:00 p.m.
- March 4: The Espai Jove Palau Alòs will welcome neighbors for the Assafa community dinner at 6:30 p.m.
- March 7: There will be two events at 6:30 p.m.: one at the Institut Barri Besòs and another at the CEM Trinitat Vella, the latter organized by the La Pau mosque.
- March 11: The Museu Marítim will host the traditional Ibn Battuta Foundation gathering at 6:30 p.m.
- March 12: The closing of this series of dinners will take place on Rambla del Raval at 6:30 p.m.
All these events are designed as spaces for cultural exchange where citizens can actively participate in local celebrations of the holy month.
