On the occasion of the celebration of the events of the National Day of Catalonia, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) and the Barcelona City Council have announced a significant reinforcement of public transport for this Thursday, September 11.
To facilitate the displacements, TMB has prepared a special device that includes an increase of trains in all the conventional lines of the subway network. The reinforcement will be more noticeable between 13:00 and 21:00 hours, with the incorporation of 20 additional trains.
This will mean an increase of 22% in the usual offer for a public holiday. Lines L3 and L4, the closest to the main event in the afternoon, will experience the greatest increase in frequency.
Likewise, the presence of service, security and cleaning staff will be reinforced at the stations with the largest expected number of passengers, such as Barceloneta (L4), Jaume I (L4), Drassanes (L3), Liceu (L3), Arc de Triomf (L1), Urquinaona (L1 and L4), Passeig de Gràcia (L2, L3 and L4), Catalunya (L1 and L3) and Paral-lel (L2 and L3).
TMB recommends users to follow the staff’s indications at all times and to plan their journeys in advance. The use of the metro is recommended to access the afternoon events in the Pla de Palau area and Passeig de Colom, where surface traffic will be restricted.
Affectations on bus lines

The bus network will also suffer alterations throughout the day. During the morning, the traditional floral offerings at the monument to Rafael Casanova will cause detours on the lines that run along the Ronda de Sant Pere ( D50, H16, V15, V17, 19 and the red route of the Barcelona Bus Turístic).
In the afternoon, the main demonstration, which will run from Avinguda Marquès de l’Argentera to La Rambla, will affect about ten lines between 15:30 and 21:00 hours approximately.
The lines affected by detours or limitations on their route will be: D20, H14, V15, V15, V17, V19, 19, 47, 59, 120 and the red route of Barcelona Bus Turístic.
TMB will keep users informed about the status of the service in real time through its website and mobile application.
