Barcelona says goodbye to the almost spring-like temperatures that have marked the last week of January, with records that reached 20 degrees and left perfect Sunday skies for a walk on the beach.
It will be thanks to the squall Herminia, which has already affected the north of the Iberian Peninsula with cold and rain and is now heading towards the Catalan capital with a significant drop in temperatures.
First changes from Monday, intense cold from Wednesday onwards
As the Meteocat points out, the first effects of the squall have already been noticed this Monday, with a drop in temperatures that contrasts with the high temperatures on Sunday.
But these changes will worsen from Tuesday and Wednesday, when the squall Herminia is fully installed in the city. At this time the minimum temperatures will drop to 7ºC. This drop will intensify as the week progresses, reaching minimums of 5ºC on Friday.
Although no heavy rainfall is expected for this week, some light and occasional rain is not ruled out on the Barcelona coast.
Beyond Friday the forecasts are more doubtful, so citizens are advised to check the Meteocat updates for more accurate information on the evolution of the squall and, that’s for sure, go out warm throughout the week.
