The Barcelona City Council has already launched its summer vacation program, which offers more than a thousand educational and recreational activities for children and young people aged 1 to 17.
Registration, open since April 13 and available online, offers the chance to secure one of the 350,000 spots distributed across sports, cultural, artistic, technological, and recreational activities during the summer months.
Starting Monday, April 13, families can register their children, although some organizations may set their own deadlines at a later date.
Each activity has its own page on the campaign website, which lists the exact registration start date and the contact information for the organizing entity.
Among the activities offered are camps for basketball, performing arts, visual arts, music, and combined activity programs. You can also filter by district.
Installment payments and financial assistance for families
Most organizations offer the option of online pre-registration. Additionally, there is no limit on the number of activities a child can be registered for, although municipal financial assistance can only be requested for one activity per child.
Payment for the activities can be made in installments: families pay a maximum of 50% at the time of registration and the remainder before the activity begins.
For those who have applied for financial assistance for extracurricular activities (which includes those in this program), the required down payment varies depending on the approved subsidy level: up to 10% for those assigned a 90% subsidy, up to 20% for a 60% subsidy, and up to 30% for a 30% subsidy or in cases where the application is pending approval.
If the family does not make this advance payment within a maximum of ten business days, the organization may release the reserved spot.
In addition, all activities in the program must ensure the participation of children and youth with disabilities. Organizations are required to reserve at least 5% of their spots for this group until June 1. After that date, any unfilled spots may be assigned to the general waiting list.
Children with disabilities can participate in the program up to age 19 if the activity is standard, or up to age 21 if it is adapted.
