Next Sunday, March 30, the clocks throughout Spain will return to daylight saving time. That is, we will sleep one hour less as the clocks go forward.
The lack of sleep on that day will be compensated with more hours of sunshine in the final hours of the day. So much so, that every day until next June, sunset will be extended by minutes in Barcelona.
The time change will take place in the early hours of Saturday 29th to Sunday 30th March. When the clock strikes 2 o’clock, it will be 3 o’clock.
However, sunset will be extended until approximately 8:15 pm, a change that many will be grateful for after the gloomy, cold and rainy episodes that have impacted Barcelona in recent weeks.
On the other hand, the sunrise will be delayed by one hour, which will mean waking up and arriving at work or school in a slight twilight.
This schedule will be maintained until October and is common throughout the European Union, but not in other countries in America, Africa or Asia.
