Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona has announced a new advance in the T-mobilitat system: the possibility of loading more than one different fare option at the same time in the personalized plastic card formats and in the mobile version.
Thus, as of February 12, users who need to have different fare options available on the same support, either from different fare ranges or fare zones, will be able to benefit from this new advantage on their T-mobilitat cards and select the one they need at the time of validation on public transport. +
However, it will be allowed to have a maximum of two fare options on the plastic card and up to five on the mobile version, each with a second identical reservation fare option, and the new functionality will not be available for T-mobilitat cardboard cards, as they are designed for passengers with less frequent use of public transport.
How to select which fare option to use?
For cards that have two different fare options loaded, there will always be one fare option selected by default. If you wish to change to another fare option, you will have to do it simply through the mobile application or at the ticket vending machines.
What precautions should be taken with the new system?
With plastic cards:
One should avoid changing the title selected during the journey to avoid errors in both intermodal transfer and departure validations, or in the event of an inspection. In this regard, it is necessary to keep the ticket used when accessing the network selected until the end of the trip.
Likewise, on the same trip, two different tickets cannot be validated consecutively with the same plastic card, since doing so would result in the loss of the information of the first validation and, therefore, the exit and transfer rights of the first validated ticket.
With cell phone cards:
In the case of validation with cell phone -due to its greater information storage capacity- there will be the option to perform multiple validation and change ticket during the trip.
The ATM will publicize this new functionality through an information campaign on the ATM website or the T-Mobilitat.
