Renfe has announced the temporary suspension of rail traffic throughout the Mediterranean corridor due to the red warning for torrential rains issued by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET). The measure affects trains with origin and destination in Barcelona, Valencia and Alicante, and will remain in force until further notice, as reported by Renfe through its social networks.
Among the affected services are Euromed and Larga Distancia trains, specifically:
- EU1180 Barcelona Sants-Alicante
- EU1193 Alicante-Barcelona Sants
- IC1382 Valencia Nord-Barcelona Sants
- IC1200 Barcelona Sants-Valencia Nord
- IC1403 Alicante-Barcelona Sants
For the moment, the traffic between Castellón and Alicante remains operative, although under constant monitoring of the evolution of the storm.
Ticket changes and cancellations
Renfe has enabled the possibility of making changes or cancellations at no additional cost for all passengers with tickets on the cancelled trains. The company has stressed that passenger safety is its top priority and that operations will be resumed only when weather conditions permit.
The company has reminded that it will contact those affected by SMS or email through the contact details associated with the reservation.
The red warning from the AEMET forecasts heavy and persistent rainfall in the Mediterranean strip, which has led to extreme precautions in the railway infrastructures in the area.
