You don’t have to travel to the Netherlands to see a sea of tulips. An hour and a half from Barcelona, in the small town of Saldes in the Berguedà region, one of Catalonia’s most stunning natural gardens blooms every spring.
More than 200,000 tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths color the landscape at the foot of Pedraforca, at an altitude of 1,200 meters, in what many are already calling “Catalan Holland.”
The site, known as Tulipmania, is open to the public during the spring season until May 4, every day from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., except on Fridays and Saturdays when hours are extended until 8:00 p.m. with opening at 9:00 a.m. (on Sundays, closing time is 7:30 p.m.). If you visit on a weekday, you don’t need to make a reservation on their website.
How much does it cost to visit this tulip garden?
Self-guided admission costs 13 euros per person, while the guided tour costs 17 euros.
Tulipmania is located on Carrer Santa Bàrbara, s/n, 08697 Saldes, in the Berguedà region.
If you can’t make it this spring, remember that it will return in the fall for a second season featuring dahlias, during the months of September and October.
