Can you imagine owning for a while a small plot of land where you can grow your fruits and vegetables without leaving Barcelona? In the city there are 15 municipal gardens distributed in the 10 districts, managed by the Municipal Institute of Parks and Gardens.
Now and until April 16, 2025, is open the call to participate in the draw for one of the 364 plots for people aged 65 years or older and non-profit organizations.
These agricultural spaces are parceled in such a way that plots of between 20 and 40m2 are awarded. For senior citizens, the allocation of the plots will be made by drawing lots.
The requirements to participate are to be 65 years of age or older in the calendar year of the application, to be registered in the corresponding district for at least six months.
In the case of non-profit entities, the award will be through a merit-based competition, and must be legally constituted as a non-profit entity based in the district. In addition, they must be destined to a minimum of 6 beneficiaries that are part of the entity.
Of the 364 plots available, 265 will be destined to people over 65 years old and the rest to entities.
Between May and June, the definitive list of those admitted will be published, before the drawing of lots which will take place in November. The allocation is scheduled for the end of the year.
