Update: Tickets were sold out within hours of opening registrations, and finally about 400 people will be able to visit, initially, the Gaudí station. Later on, visits will be made to the Post Office Station.
The Barcelona metro turns 100 years old and celebrates it by bringing to light its most hidden secrets. After having opened its driving practice simulators or organized races through its tunnels, now comes another of the most anticipated events: the visits to the ghost stations.
Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) will open, for the first time in history, the mythical “ghost stations” of Gaudí and Correus, two closed stops that are part of the urban imaginary but that until now had never been visited.
Which stations (and other spaces) will be opened

Undoubtedly, the most striking feature of these visits is the opening of the ghost stations. The ones that will be opened will be the Gaudí and Correus stations, two mythical stations that many of Barcelona’s inhabitants have dreamed of visiting at some point.
But in addition, there are other important spaces that will be open to the public and are also full of interest. It will be possible to visit the Santa Eulàlia Workshops and the ZAL, the oldest and most modern, respectively, of the network.
In addition, the Mercat Nou Electric Subcentral, an architectural jewel of the Transversal Metro, with Renaissance and Modernist influences, and the mythical Urquinaona Spiral Staircase, a vestige of the Great Metro of 1926, will also be open.
All these spaces can be visited during the Setmana de la Mobilitat (Mobility Week), which from September 12 to 14 will hold an Open House to different buildings related to mobility in Barcelona.
How to register
Registration will open on Tuesday, September 9 at 10:00 am through the website obrimelmetro.cat, and will be available until all places are taken.
In total, more than 5,000 free places will be offered to visit the eight spaces normally closed to the public.
Tickets will probably fly, so we recommend you to be attentive to register as soon as possible.
As on recent occasions, on September 9 in the morning the metro website collapsed due to the avalanche of registrations. At 12h., TMB has announced that it is working on it to fix the problem.
