The rain has returned to bless (yes, I believe that we can already use this verb) the Catalan soil during this Easter. The Easter long weekend has been spent by water and as much as that has spoiled the vacations of some, most will agree on how necessary the rains are with this persistent drought.
And if last week the news that the reservoirs came out (very little) of their state of emergency caught our attention, there are many of us who want to know the effect of the rains of Easter in the Catalan aquifers. For that there is the app AETR (Aigüa en Temps Real), the application of the Agència Catalana de l’Aigüa that allows to see in real time the state of the rivers and reservoirs of Catalonia.
The operation is very easy and intuitive. It is enough to enter the web, where it automatically displays the map with the reservoirs and rivers of Catalonia. On the reservoirs (for example those of Susqueda, at 21% of its capacity or Vilanova de Sau, at 6%), all the data is indicated (population, maximum capacity, etc.) the amount of water available and the percentage of the total.
With the rivers, it also indicates the amount of water they carry and the level at which they are. The application also allows to consult a rainfall radar that allows to see where rainfall can accumulate and also all the rain gauges dedicated to measure the water in Catalonia.
It is not the only application. The Agència Catalana de l’Aigüa (ACA) has activated this website where you can check the specific status of each reservoir but also the general state of the aquifers and the history of records over the years.
