The four restaurants in Barcelona that have just been awarded Michelin stars.
The Michelin Awards Gala was held yesterday and awarded 4 new stars to Barcelona and 9 in total to Catalonia, which now totals 77 stars in 62 restaurants.
The Michelin Guide last night retraced the astral chart of Spanish gastronomy, placing new stars in the panorama to know, as who follows the polar star, where to walk to find good food. It did so at a gala held in Murcia that once again ratified the capital of Barcelona and Catalonia in the Spanish and world gastronomic scene.
Up to four restaurants in Barcelona, nine in total in Catalonia, have been awarded a new Michelin star, bringing the total to 77 stars in 62 restaurants in this community alone.
The four new starred restaurants in Barcelona
Yesterday’s gala leaves a silly scoreboard: 44 stars for Barcelona, 43 in Madrid, in a derby that does not have the hype of the footballer but that serves to reveal, once again, the importance of the Catalan capital for the national gastronomy.
Of these 44 Michelin stars, four are brand new, for restaurants that are new to the award and that, for the most part, have only recently opened.
Fishology
Captained by Riccardo Radice, this restaurant has captivated critics with an innovative proposal focused on fish and seafood. Its techniques include salting, maturation and cured meats that take seafood to another level.
We told you about Mae when it opened. Diego Mondragón and Germán Espinosa redefine gastronomic syncretism at Mae, where they fuse products and flavors from different latitudes, offering a surprising and international experience.
Prodigi
In this space, Jordi Tarré combines tradition and modernity. His dishes stand out for reinterpreting Catalan cuisine with local seasonal products, resulting in a proposal that celebrates the territory and innovation.
We also talk about Teatro in the video we leave you here. Oliver Peña takes gastronomy to the stage in this restaurant that turns every meal into a show in the place that used to be Tickets. Oliver appropriates it to make a wonderful definition of what fusion food is.
In addition, Divinum in Girona and Voramar, in Portbou, join the premiere of Esperit Roca, the new project of the Roca brothers in Sant Julià de Ramis.
Green stars for sustainability
For some years now, the Michelin Guide has been awarding green stars for sustainability to restaurants that stand out in this field. The 4 new green stars of this edition are for Bistrot 1965 in Castelló d’Empúries, La Boscana in Bellvís, Espai Amunt, in Ulldecona and Restaurant 1497, in Vallromanes.
Three untouchable stars (and two restaurants that lose theirs).
All Catalan restaurants with three Michelin stars maintain their power: El Celler de Can Roca (Girona), ABaC (Barcelona), Lasarte (Barcelona), Cocina Hermanos Torres ( Barcelona) and Disfrutar (Barcelona).
As a counterpoint, the only negative note is given by Moments, of the xef Raül Balam, which loses the second star it had since 2012 to stay with one and Xerta, which loses its only star.
