The duel to find the perfect pine nut panellet that triumphs in this Castanyada already has a verdict. The 6th edition of the Route of the Best Pine Nut Panellets of Catalonia has put to the test 65 master confectioners from all over the territory, in one of the sweetest and most awaited events of the autumn. An expert jury has carefully assessed every detail, from the quality of the marzipan to the structure in the mouth, the flavor and the external image, to deliver the most coveted award.
And the grand prize, the Golden Panellet, stays in Barcelona. The winner was Pastelería Faixat, an emblematic bakery located at 159 Muntaner street. Its creation has been imposed as the best in Catalonia, a recognition that consolidates its reputation in the competitive world of artisan confectionery.
An almost centenary pastry shop accustomed to awards
For the residents of Eixample, Faixat is a true institution. Opened as a family business in 1929, the pastry shop has managed to combine tradition and innovation under the baton of Enric Faixat, at the helm of the business since 2011.
This Gold Panellet is by no means its first major recognition. In 2022, Faixat received the Master Food Artisan Diploma. In addition, since 2021, the influential Fava de Cacau awards have continuously included Faixat in their prestigious list of the best pastry shops in Catalonia. As if that were not enough, this same 2025 they also took the third prize for the best bread of Sant Jordi.
