The nativity scenes and markets are part of the Christmas plans in Barcelona but they are not the only classics of these dates. Concerts are also another must for this December, so while the city prepares for the Barcelona Festival de Nadal and Sons de Ciutat, other Christmas programs have already been confirmed, such as those of the Palau de la Música Catalana or L’Auditori.
So that you do not skip any, here are 11 Christmas concerts in Barcelona, some free and some of these concerts by candlelight, for those who want to add live music to these special dates.
Christmas concerts at the Paraninfo de la Universitat de Barcelona.

The Paraninfo of the UB is once again filled with music with two concerts that bring together the Orquestra Universitat de Barcelona, the Nou Cor de la UB and the Schola Cantorum. The program mixes very different pieces: Rimsky-Korsakov’s Christmas Eve Polish, a festival of American Christmas carols, the suite from The Polar Express and Saint-Saëns’Oratorio de Noël, among others.
Admission is free, but requires an invitation. Invitations will be available online at 8:00 a.m. on the previous Monday (maximum two per person), and it is also possible to pick up any of the free ones one hour before the concert at the Information Point of the Faculty of Mathematics.

In this edition, the Banda Municipal de Barcelona joins soprano María Hinojosa and several choral groups, such as the Coro Madrigal.
The repertoire revolves around two works created by Catalan composers of reference: the Gloria by Albert Guinovart and the Nadales catalanes, op. 76 by Salvador Brotons, a contemporary look at those melodies we have all heard at one time or another.

Although it is offered in a selected version, there is no lack of the most awaited moments —with the unmistakable Hallelujah at the head— in an event that the public has turned into a Christmas tradition year after year.
