Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has announced this Tuesday the service cuts that will occur in the Barcelona metro throughout the summer until next September. Due to various works and renovation works on lines L5, L2, L4 and L10N, the service will be interrupted on designated dates from June 25 until September 1.
The Department of Territory of the Generalitat de Catalunya, through the Direcció General d’Infraestructures de Mobilitat (DGIM), and TMB will invest more than 25 million euros in different works on lines L5, L2, L4 and L10N.
The work will be carried out between late June and early September in order to affect as few users as possible on the different lines. Some of the work has been brought forward in order to avoid coinciding with the celebration of the America’s Cup which will be held between August and October 2024.
On June 25, the closure will begin for improvement works on L2, between Paral-lel and Sagrada Familia, which will last until August 25. From July 27 to August 22, L4 will be out of service on the Selva de Mar – La Pau section to improve infrastructure and accessibility at La Pau station. In addition, work will be carried out on the L10N between Gorg and La Salut, from August 5 to 25.
On line 5, between Cornellà Centre and Collblanc, the service will be interrupted from June 25 to September 1, both included, for renovation work on this section of track, which has reached the end of its useful life, and to extend the platform. This action will eliminate vibrations, expand capacity and improve accessibility, as reported by the Barcelona City Council.
On line 2, between Paral-lel and Sagrada Familia, the service will be interrupted due to track fastening replacement works to eliminate vibrations.
Meanwhile, on L4, between La Pau and Selva de Mar, accessibility works will be carried out at La Pau station and improvements to the line’s infrastructure, in general.
The objective on L1o, between Gorg and La Salut, will be to renew various track devices and reduce vibrations.
