The migration season has already begun and that means that whales and dolphins, animals that are hard to imagine entering the coast of Barcelona, show their fins as if they were just another tourist in the city.
A couple of days ago the Port of Barcelona spotted ten dolphins in the middle of Maremágnum, which were jumping around the area quietly.
The rorqual whale is back
In addition to the dolphins, a rorqual whale, the second largest whale in the world, appeared yesterday , just 15 miles from the port of Barcelona, which appeared in Barcelona on what is now its usual migration route through the Mediterranean.
The whale was sighted by Mar a la Vista, a sustainable marine tourism company that operates in Barcelona with the Rías de Ferrol, a traditional sailing boat from which they have become experts in this type of sightings.
Both they and the Port of Barcelona remind that when these animals are sighted, avoid disturbing or approaching them, and that boats should keep a distance of 50 meters and sail at a maximum speed of 4 knots.
