Hiking with young children and enjoying nature is totally possible if you choose the right routes. Near Barcelona, there are several excursions of less than 5 kilometers that are perfect for exploring with the family.
In some of these short and accessible routes, you will find waterfalls, rivers and natural pools ideal for the little ones to cool off and experience different elements of nature. In addition to interacting with the water, they will be able to play on its banks respecting the flora and fauna of the area.
The excursions we propose are suitable for children from 4 years old and have little slope. We recommend doing them during good weather, between spring and summer, although, depending on the weather, they can be enjoyed until the beginning of autumn.
Molí Fondo
This route is perfect for families with children due to its short distance and easy accessibility. The scenery is spectacular, as it is in the volcanic area of La Garrotxa, which is very well adapted for family audiences.
The excursion begins in the center of the village of Sant Joan les Fonts, where you can visit the Romanesque church of the village. From the church, a well-marked path leads to Molí Fondo, an old 18th century flour mill. The path is mostly flat and runs along the Fluvià river, offering picturesque views and the opportunity to cool off. In case you want to make an even shorter excursion, you can park right in front of the fountains and visit the surroundings.
