When the evening light filters through the stained-glass windows of the Sagrada Família, the space is transformed into something almost mystical. This summer, that atmosphere so unique to us will become even more magical thanks to a completely free concert that brings together the Grec Festival and the Any Gaudí celebration. On July 17 at 10:00 p.m., the interior of the iconic basilica will become the setting for a musical evening designed specifically to blend with the temple’s architecture.
The show, titled “Arrels de llum,” will feature the talents of Maria Arnal, Lídia Pujol, and the Cor Cererols. To attend this special event, which celebrates the festival’s 50-year history, residents will have the opportunity to secure one of the more than 750 pairs of tickets available. Admission will be determined by a public drawing, and registration is now open to all residents.
A musical journey between tradition and modernity
The musical program will not be a conventional performance, but rather a true acoustic experience conceived to interact with the forms of the space shaped by Gaudí. The Cor Cererols, under the skillful direction of Marc Díaz, will intertwine their voices with those of Lídia Pujol and Maria Arnal on a historical journey spanning seven centuries of music, traveling from 14th-century compositions to 21st-century creations.
This dialogue seeks to connect traditional roots with contemporary sounds. It will revolve around three fundamental pillars: nature, light, and spirituality—concepts that not only define the legacy of the architect from Reus but also form part of the region’s cultural identity.
How to enter the ticket giveaway
Since this is a free event but with a naturally limited capacity for an occasion of this caliber, tickets will be allocated fairly through araffle. Those who don’t want to miss the opportunity to experience “Arrels de llum” from inside the basilica have until July 5 at 9:00 p.m. to submit their application via the official link provided for the process. In total, more than 750 pairs of tickets will be distributed among all registrants.
This highly symbolic concert is the result of close collaboration between the Grec and the Sagrada Família itself, and comes during a year filled with historic moments for the church. This musical event coincides with recent milestones fondly remembered by the people of Barcelona, such as the blessing of the Tower of Jesus and Pope Leo XIV’s spectacular visit to the city.
In addition, this tribute joins a lineup of free activities celebrating Any Gaudí that extend beyond the Catalan capital, such as the fair that will reenact the laying of the cornerstone at Colònia Güell, accompanied by a drone display. An unbeatable cultural calendar that complements this year’s extensive program at the Grec Festival perfectly.
