Today, November 19, the Cathedral of Barcelona offers a free organ concert ideal if you are in the Gòtic or looking for what to do today in Barcelona. At 8:00 pm, Slovak organist Monica Melcova will take to the keyboard of the Cathedral’s historic 16th century organ.
The recital is part of the 36th Organ Cycle and combines works by Couperin and Bach before closing with a final improvisation inspired by Ravel’s language by Melcova herself.
And hearing it on her historic organ completely changes the experience.
The instrument, which dates back to the 16th century and was last restored in 1994, has a sonic presence that impresses live. With 57 stops spread across several keyboards and pedal, it is well suited to both ancient and contemporary works.

Admission is free with voluntary contribution and no advance booking is required. So, if you’re looking for live music today in Barcelona or fancy some classical music, just head to the Cathedral, right in the heart of the Gòtic, at Pla de la Seu, s/n.
